LAWSON, Bernard; (born 1909Carlton – died 1998 Melbourne) Painter and teacher; STUD: NGV School 1925, George Bell School 1938-40 & 1956-61. Taught VAS 1965 – 1979. Influenced by Dobell and Nolan and School of Paris artists from Modogliani to Picasso. Awards include Mornington Peninsula Art Prize 1967, Dean Prize (VAS) 1970, Cato Prize (VAS) 1971. Exhibited at Hawthorn gallery 1977, private galleries in Melbourne 1977-1989 Represented: NGV Melbourne University, USA, Europe and Regional & Private Collections Aust.
